Prologue

’s POV

He is in the biggest boy band in the world. He is loved by millions of people including me, but I knew him long before he was in Westlife. I knew him when we were just kids. Sometimes I wish we were kids again because was always around whenever I needed him and now he isn’t around much anymore. In fact, I haven’t spoken to him in several months.

’s POV

She is my best friend in the world. I don’t remember not knowing . She has grown into such a wonderful person. She is a teacher at the high school back in Sligo now. I couldn’t believe it when she told me she was going to be a teacher since I never saw her as teacher type, but I only imagine how her students must love her. I miss her a lot and I haven’t even spoken to her in months.


Flashback to Age Five
’s POV


I was sitting on the playground waiting for my older brother. All the other kids were gone with their parents who were there right after school. I was getting scared because I hated being alone.
“Hey, why are you still here?” a brown haired boy said to me.
“My brother hasn’t come” I said.
“Oh, what’s your name?” he asked.
“” I replied
“Well, I’m ” he said “There is my mum. Bye, ”

’s POV

I ran to my mother and got out of ’s view. My mother asked me what was I talking to the little girl, but I wouldn’t tell her. I just said it was some girl from another class. That was the day came into my life and she has been there ever since.

’s POV

“James, you forgot me! I’m telling mom and dad” I yelled at him.
“I’m so sorry, , but I saw you had company. Who was the little boy?” James asked smiling.
“Just some boy from another class, I don’t know him” I said walking away from James.
That was the day came into my life and he has been there ever since.

Flash Forward to Age Eight
’s POV

“, will you stop singing for like two seconds?!” I yelled at him.
“Why should I?” He asked.
“Because you’re making my ears hurt” I said.
“No, I won’t stop” said and started to sing even louder.
I have to wonder to myself why I ever become friends with him. All he does is sing at the top of lungs and that drives me crazy but I guess I’m stuck with him now.

’s POV

“Hey, , want to come over and play video games tomorrow?” I asked her.
“Sure, but I want to watch cartoons first” she said.
“Fine” I replied.
I knew she would say yes because she always did. It was fun to play against her because I could always beat her.
“, COME HERE!” her mother yelled.
“What, mommy?” she asked running up the hall.
“Your brother has been in an accident, so you are going to go to ’s for a bit while me and father are at the hospital, ok?” said “Go get into the car”

’s POV

My mother dropped us off at ’s and went to the hospital where my father already was. I wanted to go with her so badly but she wouldn’t let me. I don’t remember much of that day but I remember sitting on ’s couch and him holding my hand until my dad came to get me. This was only time I hated being at ’s.

’s POV

was so scared her brother was dead. Her mother wouldn’t let her go to the hospital so we went and sat on the couch until her dad came to get her. I didn’t know what to say to her so I just held her hand.

Flash Forward Age 16
’s POV

“You won, ” I said hugging him.
“Well, I am the best at this school” he replied with a goofy grin on his face “Do you have the car?”
“Of course I do” I said “Why?”
“Because as much as I love winning the talent contests here, I hate being here when I don’t have to be” said grabbing my arm and pulling me outside.
“So, , junior prom is coming up. How many guys have asked you so far?” said once we hit the road.
“So many I can’t remember!” I exclaimed “No, actually, just a few but none I want to go with really because they are just the dumb jocks”
“Would you go with a music geek?” asked
“If you’re asking then I’m accepting, because nothing sounds better then going with my best friend” I said smiling at as I pulled into his driveway.
“Good, because I was asking. Give me a call when you get home, ok?” he said getting out of the car “Bye, ”
“I will. Night, ” I said.
He always made me call him so he knew I was safe at home. It all started after James died in a car accident. I remember that day like it was yesterday. My mom still thinks it is that day. She really hasn’t been the same since.

’s POV

I just needed to know she was safe, so the phone calls started back when we were eight years old. Her brother James died in a car accident and he was super man to us and he was dead. She really hasn’t been the same since he died.

Flash Forward Age 18
’s POV

“I don’t want to go anymore” I said choking back tears “It’s far away”
“Yes, you do still want to go” he said holding me “You’re gonna love Canada, . You have wanted to go since we were little”
“I know, but there are perfectly good universities here, so why did I pick one so far away from you?” I said looking at him “Tell me again why I’m going”
“Because you need to be away from this place and your parents” said “I will always be there for you, so it will be like I’m there with you”
“Thanks, . I better go, mom and dad will freak out if we don’t leave on time” I said hugging him.
“Remember you’re my number one forever” said.
“You’re mine too”
I walked away from that day wanted to never have to leave him. I was going to Canada for university and he was staying here to try to get a music career going. He was right though, I needed to be away from here and especially my parents. They fought all the time now. Neither of them had been the same since James died. I actually wanted them to split up but it would kill mom if they did, because me going away was hard enough on her. was my saving grace from my family. I’m going to miss him so much.

’s POV

She is doing it, she is moving to Canada. I want to go with her so badly but I can’t and she needs to do this on her own. She really does need to be away from everything for a while. She was never happy at home so this could be the best thing that could have happened to her. I know she will be happy there. I’m really gonna miss her though.

Flash Forward Age 21
’s POV

“We did it again” exclaimed “Another number one for Westlife”
“That is amazing, ” I told him.
“I wish you were here to celebrate with me” said “You’ve never been home when we were number one”
“I know, I wish I was there too and you know that” I said “I will be home in two weeks though for good”
“Yeah and I can’t wait to see you” said “The boys are calling for me. I better go”
“Alright, I will talk to you later. Love you, ” I said.
“I love you too, ” said “You’re my number one forever. Bye, babe”
He was a superstar. My little was in the biggest boy band in the world. I haven’t seen most of the craziness first hand though since I have been over in Canada and Westlife hasn’t really done the North American et but I have heard all about it. I have never been so happy for . He has wanted this all his life and now he has it all.

’s POV

She isn’t here again when we have gone number one, but she is so proud of me I almost can’t believe it. I just want her back home so I can share all this with her. I know I tell her everything over the phone but I want her to be here for everything. She has only been to one concert. She of course loved it but I just need her with me.

Flash Forward to Present Day
’s POV

“Do you really know , Ms. ?” Amanda asked.
“Yes, I really know, . I grew up with him” I replied.
“That is so cool. So you must be going to the concert then” Kelly said.
“No, I’m not actually. I haven’t talked to in a long time, so no I’m not” I said “And you should get going lunch is almost over”
“Come on Ms. , we have extra ticket since Kelly’s cousin can’t come. They are front row on the left side” Amanda said.
“And it would make my parents feel so much better if we someone older come with us” Kelly said.
“If I say yes will you stop asking me about ?” I asked and the girls nodded “Fine, I will go. Now get going, there goes the bell”
“Thanks so much” the girls yelled running to get to their homerooms.
What have I done? I’m going to a Westlife concert with two of my students! I haven’t seen in almost two years and now I’m going to one of his concerts. I have only been to one Westlife concert. I can’t believe I said yes to the girls.

’s POV

“Do you think she will come to the concert, guys?” I asked.
“I don’t know, mate” said “You haven’t talked to her in what, almost two years?”
“Yeah, I know, I should have kept in touch better. After her number got changed and her parents moved away I haven’t been able to get in contact with her at all” I said staring out the window of the bus.
“Cheer up, mate I’m sure you’re gonna be able to find her once we get home, because you know she’s working at the high school now” said.
“He has a point there, ” said.
“Yeah, I will find her this time that I’m home” I said.
How did I let this happen? She was my best friend in the whole world. I kept getting busier with the band, she left messages and I never returned her phone calls. I have no up to date phone number for her or anything. I have to get in touch with her when I’m home I just have to.

Night of the Concert
’s POV

“This is so exciting! Thanks so much for coming, Ms. ” Kelly said.
“Not a problem, girls. This is better then grading essays I must say” I said.
“Of course it does and I know you would be totally bored reading mine” Amanda said laughing.
I felt a hand on my shoulder and I turned to see who it was.
“ , how are you?” I said greeting ’s mother.
“Wonderful since my boy is home” she said “Can I pull you away for a minute?”
“Sure, I will be back in a minute, girls” I told them and followed . I didn’t want to keep following because I knew exactly where she was taking me.
“Wait here” she said leaving me in the hall.
“” his voice was soft and so familiar.
“” I almost whispered. Without saying another word he hugged me so tightly I feel his heart beating.
“I’m so sorry for everything” whispered in my ear.
“It’s alright, ” I told him.
“Five minutes till show time, folks” the stage manager said.
“I have to go now. You’re gonna be around after the show, right?” he asked.
“Of course I will” I said.
“Ok, I will see you after” said turning away.
I started walking “ ! You’re still my number one” yelled after me.
“You’re mine too, ” I said before leaving to go back to my seat.

’s POV

She is here! I have never been so excited in my life. I didn’t think she would be here, I mean, she really didn’t have a reason to be since we haven’t talked in such a long time, but I was hoping she would. I really just want the concert to be over so I can be with her again but now I have a surprise for her. She is going to kill me, but I love having her back.

’s POV

He is the still the same old . I knew he would be, but I was scared to see him again. I hadn’t realized how much I missed him until I saw him again. The concert has started and the girls are singing along with every word and all I want is for the concert to be over so I can be with again and not have the Westlife thing attached. I love having him back.

“So, we’re almost at the end of the concert and I have something to do. I have been a very bad friend to my best friend in the whole world and I have to make it up to her” said looking at me “, please come up here”
I shook my head at but that wasn’t going to work so hopped off the stage and made me come up on stage with him.
“This is for you” said and started singing “Unbreakable”
By the end of the song I was crying, I just couldn’t help it. had tears in his eyes too. He came over and hugged me as tight as he could. It was like the whole world stopped just for us to have this moment.
“I love you, ” he whispered.
