“What are we doing here?” asked her boyfriend, Nicky,
when they arrived at Old Trafford around midnight. As Nicky opened the door
stepped out of their black BMW. He admired his wonderful girl; her
, , hair, her legs that seemed to stretch on forever, the short,
loose, but still tight enough to show off her curvaceous body, white summer
dress. He took a hold of her hand and led her towards the entrance. “Nicky,
seriously, what are we doing here?” she asked again.
“Do you remember the first time we met each other?” As she nodded,
Nicky grab his jacket pocket to make sure it was still there. “Well, tonight’s
going to be very special… I hope… And I thought this would be the
perfect place.”
stared suspiciously at him. That he was going to propose was a thought
that never entered her mind, because he had always said he’d never get
married. Nicky knew this and simply smiled at her, which only made her more
suspicious.
*Flashback*
“Jesus Christ, Rooney, you’re supposed to kick the ball”
yelled loudly, “not fall on your bloody ass.”
Manchester United was playing against Liverpool and so far it didn’t look
good for Man. U.: 2-0 to Liverpool. Like it also annoyed Nicky, who
was sitting behind her. So far she hadn’t really annoyed him, because
he agreed with her, but suddenly she got up and blocked his view. He grabbed
her wrist and tried to make her sit, but she resisted. He then got up, grabbed
her shoulders and pushed her down. When he looked at her he was staring into
a pair of beautiful eyes. “What the fuck is your problem?”
was the next thing he heard. He snapped back to reality. “My problem?
What’s my…” he said. “I’ll tell you what my problem
is.” He paused for a moment and sat back down. “You are.”
“Me?!” she asked, almost yelling.
“Yes, you. You were blocking my view.”
“Are you calling me fat?” she asked and Nicky could hear the sarcasm
in her voice. She got up, walked up to him and placed herself next to him. “Cause
I’m not.”
Nicky sighed. “I wasn’t calling you fat.”
“No, I know” she smirked. “I was just trying to… Oh,
someone’s eating the grass.”
Nicky looked at the field and then back at her, not giving a damn about Michael
Carrick eating the grass. “Trying to what?”
“Start a conversation ‘cause I think you’re cute.”
*End of Flashback*
As Nicky led towards a small table in the middle of the field, he started
chuckling.
“What’s so funny?” she asked.
“Oh, I was just thinking about the very first time we met each other.”
“Yeah?”
They stopped at the table. “Yeah… Do you still think I’m cute?”
laughed lightly and pulled him in for a hug. She ran her fingers through
his blonde hair. “I’ll always think you’re cute.”
He smiled widely when they separated. “Great, then I’m gonna do
this now, before we eat.” He reached for the little box in his pocket.
’s eyes widened. He got down on one knee and opened the box. “,
will you marry me and become the mother of my children?”
The silence from when he finished his question to ’s answer was
brief. “Yes.” Nicky placed the shiny, heart-shaped diamond ring
on her finger and kissed her with more passion that he had ever felt.
“Let’s go home now” he said.
She looked at the table and saw plates and glasses. “Honey, you’ve
just dragged me out here and now you wanna go home?”
“Well, yeah” he shrugged. “I mean, I’d rather eat stuff
off your warm body than off some boring white plate.”
She looked at the plates again. “I see what you mean.” They both
laughed and began running, both wanting to just satisfy their desire.
As they reached to parking lot stopped running, cursing loudly. “Bloody
hell, I left my damn purse in there.” Nicky looked annoyingly at her.
“I know, I know” she said. “It’s one of my tendencies.
I’ll just go get it.”
“No way” he said and pulled her back. “You wait out here.
I run faster than you.”
“Are you calling me fat?” she smirked. He pulled a funny face before
running back inside. looked around and saw a white van coming towards
her. The backdoor was open and she noticed something that made her run like
hell towards the entrance, but she wasn’t fast enough.
Nicky had barely picked up ’s purse when he heard a loud shot
followed by an almost louder scream. He dropped the purse, spun around and sprinted
back. Right before he swung the door to a long hallway open he heard another
shot. This time there were no scream. He ran faster and faster and didn’t
care about the door breaking when he swung it open. He raced across the parking
lot and found lying on the ground, her dress no longer white, but blood
red. “, NOOO!” He knelt down next to her, taking her in
his arms and hugged her tight, tears streaming down his cheeks. He looked around
to see if there were anybody there, but the only thing he saw was a football
ball and for a very short moment he thought: ‘What is that doing out here?’
Suddenly something flashed before him and a person appeared in front of him.
He looked closer; she looked almost like , except her hair was short.
She was wearing a long, white dress and her feet were bare. “You look
like an angel” he said.
She smiled at him, which warmed his heart a bit; even her smile could’ve
been ’s. “That’s because I am an angel, Nicky. I’ve
been sent here to give you and a second chance.”
“How do you know ?”
“How I know her doesn’t matter because I think you already know.”
Nicky looked at his girl. “You’re her mother.” He glanced
at the angel again who nodded. “What do you mean? ‘A second chance?’”
“Life’s unfair sometimes” she started. “That
had to die was unfair. What I’m about to say to you is unfair.”
She looked directly into Nicky’s blue eyes. “You wanna marry her,
don’t you?” Nicky nodded. “And have kids with her?”
Once again he nodded. “Nicky, sometimes you can’t have both and
this is one of those times.” Nicky began crying again. “But
once said something that I hope you can remember because I don’t want my daughter
to die again. Plus, I know a little something you don’t.”
“What?” He looked up, but she wasn’t there anymore. All he
saw was the road and in the distance; Old Trafford. He turned his head and saw
.
“I asked; what are we doing here in Manchester?”
Nicky cleared his throat and closed his eyes for a moment. Just then he remembered
what had once said about marriage; that it felt like they were already
married. He opened his eyes again and smiled at . “I’m not
sure.” They passed Old Trafford.
looked out of the window and saw a very familiar person. She placed
both hands on the window. “Nicky, are you seeing what I’m seeing?”
She closed her eyes, thinking she must be hallucinating, but her mother was
still there when she opened them again. “I see her” she heard Nicky
say. She turned to look at him who was smiling at the angel. She waved at them,
blew a kiss and then she faded away. “Mom” smiled.
She bit her lip and looked at Nicky. “Please stop the car. I don’t
wanna crash when I tell you this.”
He pulled over and gazed at her. “What is it?”
“I might as well say it…” She took a deep breath. “I’m
pregnant.” Nicky’s face lit up and he leaned towards to
give her a kiss. She smiled widely.
“You’re so cute.”
