Let me keep freakin around

red blooded woman

It’s too hot inside

The hissing sound Kian made, had Mark looking up curiously. ‘Where?’ was his natural response, knowing exactly what the noise had meant.

‘Two o’clock, legs the size of the statue of liberty!’ His mate pointed in the right direction where indeed a pair of long legs could be seen. Mark let his eyes follow them and nodded appreciatevly.

‘Legs indeed, could that skirt get any shorter?’

‘Yes please.’ Mark looked at his friend and both erupted in laughter. This night didn’t seem to be any other than their usual bandnights out. Checking out gorgeous women, drinking too much alcohol and if he played his cards right, a steamy ending in his hotel room. He knew how to play his cards right, he’d had practise enough over the last couple of years. He hardly came across a woman that would turn down a night with Mark Feehily, singer in worldfamous band Westlife.

Full of confidence this night would be a succesfull one, he leaned back in his chair and watched Nicky walk up to them.

not with ya?’ Kian asked as Nicky sat down without his fiancée in sight. His friend only shook his head and raised his beer to his mouth. After a long sip he placed the glass back on the table and saw two curious faces staring at him.

‘She’s out with a friend, they are catching up over dinner and will join us after. Could be here any minute now.’

‘Hot?’ Kian asked the question that lay on the tip of Mark's tongue and Nicky raised his eyebrows.

‘Who?’

’s friend, is she hot?’

As Nicky rolled his eyes both Kian and Mark laughed again. The annoyment in his eyes was clear to read. ‘Do you ever think of anything else then sex?’

Kian shrugged, ‘Sure, if she’s ugly. Then I’ll be thinking of how to get as far away as possible.’

‘Bastard.’ Nicky muttered taking another sip of his beer.

‘Nah, I’ll leave Marky there for them, he’ll comfort them for sure.’ Kian teased on and Mark felt his cheeks grow hot.

‘Fuck off!’ He shuffed his mate and then got up from his chair. ‘Another round? Kian’s buying.’

Beers in hand Mark made his way back through the crowd. He’d neared his mates to a few feet when he noticed two girls had joined them. The one sitting in Nicky’s lap he instantly recognized as Nicky’s fiancée and he let his eyes scan the woman that had taken his seat. hair framed her face, falling on her bare shoulders. Her strapless top was hugging her in all the right places and his imagination took care of working out how the rest of her body looked, hidden underneath the table she sat at. He licked his lips, appreciating the look presented to him. A pretty thing, that she was. She was exactly what this night had been lacking and he was glad had brought her along.

As he reached the table, Mark put down the beers and pulled out a chair. Before he sat down in it, he let his eyes drift back to the woman that had sat herself where he had been seated before he went to get some drinks. Their eyes met and he couldn’t stop the smile that formed on his lips.

‘And there’s charmer number two.’ announced before he could say or do anything. ‘Hiya Mark.’

.’ He leant over and kissed her on the cheek. Then he looked at the new girl again and reached out his hand.

.’ she introduced herself and he nodded towards her.

‘Pleasure to meet you.’ Again his eyes flew over her, this time he could actually see her legs clad in a tight pair of jeans and it lived up to his expectations. Slowly he sat down and gave Kian a short look. He saw his mate also checking her out, wolfish grin on his face. His heart skipped a beat at the sight. There was no way he’d let Kian walk off with this one, no way.

Feeling the eyes of the two men roaming her gave her confidence a boost it needed badly. It was only moments ago that she’d been telling about her unfortunate luck in love lately. Men just didn’t seem interested in her for the right reasons, all they were after was the one thing she wasn’t prepared to give to just anyone. She was no prude and no virgin either but she reached a stage in life where she wanted something more than just meaningless sex. Someone that truly cared and could love her and that she could love back. A genuinly sweet man.

She ignored the stares of Mark and Kian and instead looked over at her best friend with her soon to be husband. Nicky’s hand lay tenderly on 's back and it was like being with him made her complete. They just made a perfect couple, exactly what she wanted in a relationship. Unaware of it she let escape a deep sigh.

x

You should’ve learned your lessons all them times before

you’ve been bruised, you’ve been broken

xx

Giggling she shook her head. As the night progressed Mark and Kian did their best to gain her attention by buying her drinks, making her laugh and showering her with compliments. They surely were charmers, had been right when she introduced them that way. And good looking charmers at that. She checked out Kian who was sat on her left. His blond hair hung close to his blue eyes and broad shoulders filled his shirt well. He obviously worked out regularly and Mark seemed just as fit. His dark hair was spiked up and his blue eyes shone. She felt attracted to their eyes, she wouldn’t let herself look at them too often in fear of swooning.

‘Would you like to dance?’

Kian's question pulled her from her thoughts and she smiled as he confirmed her suspicions. Sporty indeed.

‘I’d love to.’ She emptied her cocktail and swayed a bit as she got up.

‘Be careful, love.’ Mark's voice sounded deep and concerned while he steadied her by placing a hand on her back. Her cheeks grew warm and quickly she followed Kian to the dance floor. Soon she found the rhythm of the beat and found Kian a great dancer. He moved perfectly with her and had his hands loosely on her hips. But no matter how pleasant dancing with Kian was, her attention kept being drawn to the side of the dance floor where Mark was still seated. She tried hard only to sneak a peak every now and again but obviously failed as Kian suddenly pulled her closer. His lips touched her ear as a hoarse whisper told her, ‘I don’t stand a chance, do I?’

For a moment she stood dumbstruck.

‘With you.’ he quickly began explaining, ‘All that has been going on tonight was flirting.’

laughed shortly and nodded, ‘I did notice.’

‘Good.’ Kian's grin grew wider and he winked cheekily. ‘But still I don’t stand a chance; you’re hung up on Marky boy over there already, ain’t you? I might as well give up.’

smiled back apologetically, ‘Sorry. You’re a nice guy though and if it makes you feel any better, he doesn’t stand a chance either.’

‘You obviously don’t know Mark very well then.’ grinned Kian. felt her heart skip a beat and for a moment she felt like just giving in. What would it matter if she did go along with Mark's advances? It was obvious he fancied her and he was gorgeous. It would be a guaranteed night of fun. But after that night she’d be left with nothing but a broken heart. She’d fall for him, hard, she knew herself well enough to know that. It was something she didn’t plan on letting happen.

x

Then there’s my mind saying think before you go

trough that door it could lead you nowhere

xx

After Kian spinned her around, it weren’t his arms she ended up in. Mark had taken his place and as soon as he got a hold on her he pulled her close to his body. Slowly he swayed with her on the stamping beat while his hands steadied on her hips.

‘You dance well.’ His whisper reached her ear and a shiver went down her back as his breath tickled her neck.

‘You’ve got some good moves yourself.’ commented back as she felt his hips grind into her. She followed his moves and laid her head on his shoulder.

‘I saw you looking at Nicky and earlier, you like them as a couple, don’t you?’

Surprised lifted her head again. He had been more observing than she had thought. Apparently he had read her like a book.

‘I do.’ she assented, ‘They make a perfect match, there’s so much love between them.’

Mark smiled down at her and nodded at her words. ‘You can see them reach a 50th anniversary easily. Have you ever experienced something like it for yourself?’

A small shrug was his answer,

‘I whish I had, I’d love something like they have for myself. A genuinely sweet man who’ll just be there for me.’

Mark's hand stroking her back lightly made her relax and open up to him easily and for a moment she let her mind wander off. Until Mark’s voice hit her again,

‘Someone to snuggle up to at night.’ he added and she kept silent, holding on to him a bit more tightly.

‘Who will listen to anything you have to say no matter how silly it may sound. Someone that will take your hand just so you won’t feel so alone anymore.’

She closed her eyes and sighed deeply in a little nod. His arms wrapped themselves around her and held her close and she cuddled up to his warmth.

‘Love like that isn’t easy to find though, I’ve been searching for a while and so far no luck.’ she told him and she heard him laugh.

‘I’ve heard that it always hits you when you least expect it.’

rolled her eyes sarcastically, ‘I must be expecting too much then.’

Again Mark laughed and she pulled slightly away from him sending him an angry glare, ‘Are you laughing at me?’

Quickly he shook his head, ‘I wouldn’t dare. Have you looked around tonight? I think there must be at least a dozen of men that would love to make your dreams come true.’

This time it was that couldn’t stop the laughter albeit a sceptic one. There had been at least a dozen men staring at her indeed and she had no doubts about the dreams they wanted to fulfil.

‘My dreams aren’t filled with one nightstands and I doubt they’d be up for anything else.’

‘You can never know what happens after that night of passion, who knows what comes out of it.’

Another shiver went down her spine and quickly she shook her head to get rid of it. She wasn’t gonna let hem get to her, there was no way she would.

x

Has got you all romantic, crazy in your head

do you think I’d listen, no I don’t care

xx

‘I promised myself not to do this.’ moaned before Mark silenced her with a deep kiss. He expertly worked his lips on her and turned her in one swift move to pin her to the wall.

‘Why wouldn’t you?’ he panted and lead small kisses towards her neck, ‘This is good, isn’t it?’

She swallowed hard and nodded while her fingers worked to undo the buttons of his shirt, ‘But I told myself only to do this with someone I truly loved. Now look at me.’

Mark took the opportunity to take a step back and let his eyes wander up and down, ‘You look just the same as earlier tonight when you still had those crazy ideas of not having sex with me. No, correction; even better if you ask me.’

Giggling softly pulled him close again and accepted his searching lips on her skin. His fingers worked their way under her clothes and she knew she wouldn’t stop him. Despite her great ideas not to let herself get seduced by him here she was. And there was no way on stopping him even if she knew that after this night she’d never see him again. If this one night was what she was gonna get, this one night was what she was gonna take.

‘Oh and could you pick up the dresses?’

scribbled it down on the notepad she had grabbed when she recognised on the phone. Her toothbrush still dangled from her mouth but it didn’t matter coz in this conversation all she had to do was listen and sometimes put in a word or two.

‘Sure.’ she now slurred and wiped away the toothpaste that splattered on her notepad. Quickly she removed the object from her mouth, ‘But I don’t think all those dresses will fit into my tiny car. You don’t want them all wrinkled, do you?’

For a moment was silent but soon an answer came,

‘I’ll ask Mark to go with you, his car is large enough.’

Coming from the bathroom where she had dumped her toothbrush almost fell over her own feet.

‘Can’t you send Nicky? He has a large enough car.’ she asked and looked upwards to the sky for a little prayer.

‘He can’t see the dress.’ ’s answer came quick and sighed deeply.

‘What’s wrong in going with Mark? I thought the two of you got along perfectly fine when you met before.’

Another sigh threatened to escape but she managed to keep it in. She’d never told her friend about her night with Mark. Talking about it made her think about it and thinking about it made her realise she liked him too much. What she had feared happened. She’d fallen for him but after that night they never spoke to each other again. Why would they? She’d agreed on it being a one nightstand so it wouldn’t be fair to expect anything more of him. No matter how bad she wanted it.
And it was probably for the best, a few days after meeting him and Kian, had told her all about what the two of them got up to. For him it had just been a usual night out.

‘What time will you send him over?’

She had been busy preparing herself for meeting him again at the wedding but this meeting was a bit too soon for her. Nerves sprang around in her body as the clock approached his time of arrival. When finally the doorbell rang, her palms were sweaty and her heart was beating in her throat.

‘Hiya.’ was all she got out when she opened the door and the first thing she saw was his beaming smile. His eyes shone as they had before and she had to swallow a lump from her throat.

‘Hey .’ he greeted her and leaned in to kiss her cheek. After he did he stepped back, ‘Are you ready to go?’

She nodded and followed him to the car trying her best to block all thoughts of their night together out of her head. He wasn’t the right guy for her, she had proof enough for that. She wouldn’t let him get to her again, it would only end in tears and it wasn’t worth it.

‘Exciting, isn’t it?’

She looked to her side to see him sitting behind the steering wheel. His eyes were focused on the road and she had no idea what he was talking about. Luckily for her he continued before she had to ask.

‘Nicky is totally freaking out, he already lost the rings twice and it's sure he’ll be late for the ceremony and therefore asked at least ten people to wake him tomorrow morning.’

grinned feeling herself relax as he spoke, ‘ is the same, she’s worried sick about her dress, her hair, her make-up, flowers… about anything there is to worry about she worries about. Seriously, why people even get married is beyond me.’

‘What happened to try getting a Nicky of your own?’

Quickly looked outside while a blush tainted her cheeks, ‘I don’t expect to find him.’ she lied knowing full well that Mark could be just that man for her. Except for the fact that he wasn’t looking for someone to love himself. No matter how hard she had fallen, it had been a one of.

‘Love always hits you when you least expect it, remember?’ he told her like he had months ago. She hold in the sigh that threatened to escape her and joined him in a tight silence. There just was no way.

‘Nicky and are the ones saying I do, think maybe you could spare them some of your attention?’ Kian grinned while he nudged Mark in the side. He responded with a slight blush and a quick refocus of his attention.

‘I thought that was a one of?’ Kian enquired on in a whisper and saw Mark shrug.

‘I think I like her.’ he stated and Kian had to suppress his laughter.

‘You wouldn’t say. Well, there’s always the party afterwards, I’m sure you’ll have loads of time to hit on the maid of honour then.’

‘I think I might have scared her off with the night we had. When we went to pick up the dresses yesterday she was all distant and hardly spoke a word.’

‘Ya that bad in the sack, mate?’

Mark shuffed Kian hard, making several of the wedding guests present in the church look at them.

‘Just give it a try, you know you won’t have anything if you won’t.’

‘I think it’s time for the best man and maid of honour to have their dance.’ Mark whispered as he stood close behind . He saw her blush and turn quickly and smiled as their eyes met.

‘Are you sure they even have a dance?’ she came with a quick remark and for a moment he felt like giving up. But looking in her eyes again he saw a chance so therefore he held out his arm.

‘Pretty sure, I’ve checked with and Nicky and they said this was the moment. You wouldn’t want to ruin their so far perfect wedding, do you?’

giggled softly and shook her head, ‘Fine, we’ll dance.’

Mark took her arm and led her to the dance floor. Once arrived, he wrapped his arms tightly around her body. His head he lay to rest on her shoulder and he inhaled her scent. It got him slightly dizzy and he closed his eyes to savour the moment.

‘I’ve made a bit of a mistake.’ he confessed softly close to her ear when he’d build up enough courage. Being so close to her he could feel her heartbeat speed up.

‘What kind of mistake?’

He bit his lip before he continued, ‘Letting you go when we met the first time, I don’t think I ever should have done that.’

‘We had our fun.’ she commented and he pulled back slightly to be able to look in her eyes.

‘We could’ve had even more fun.’

She looked away at his words and he felt his heart skip a beat. Here he was, laying his heart on the line for her but it seemed she didn’t like him the way he liked her.

?’ he tried to get her full attention again and as she turned her head he could see tears in the corner of her eyes. His heart now fluttered as he felt a sparkle of hope come back again. ‘Would you go out with me?’

She shrugged and blinked her eyes to clear them, ‘I don’t know, Mark. I don’t want to end up all alone and miserable.’

‘Whose gonna be your sweet man when I’m gone? If you won’t go on a date with me, wouldn’t you still be alone and miserable?’ he tried his luck and again she looked away from him. Gently he took her chin and turned her back to face him.

‘I like you, . Ever since that night you’ve been on my mind. Can’t you just give me a chance?’

For a moment stood still thinking what he just said over. What did she have to loose?

‘Maybe I could. It scares me, Mark.’

Gently he smiled, leaned his head against hers and pressed a soft kiss on her nose. ‘I’m not that scary, am I?’

‘I’ve fallen for you and I’m afraid to get my heart broken. That’s scary.’

Mark's smile grew wider at her words and he pulled her even closer to his chest.

‘I guess I have to take good care of your heart then.’
