walked down the cobbled driveway towards the front door of his best friend's apartment because he was supposed to be meeting her in a couple of minutes, so that he could take her to see the lads perform live at the Manchester Evening News Arena.

* Knock Knock *

“Hello . Are you nearly ready?” asked, as the front door of the apartment opened to reveal standing there.

“Hello . I will just grab my hand bag and my jacket and then I will be ready.” replied, as she turned away from so that she could finish getting ready.

“That is alright.” said.

“So how are things with the band then? Are you kind of sad that this is the last show of the tour?” asked , as she closed the front door to her apartment and made sure that it was locked.

“Everything seems to be going really well with the band, although we are kind of sad that this is the last date of the tour.” replied, as the both of them walked towards ’s car.

“I can understand that, but then I think it will do all of you the world of good to have a little break away from the band and from touring.” said as the both of them got into the front of ’s car.

“I suppose that is true because I am really looking forward to spending time at home with my family and with the horses.” told .

“What about me though?” said, pretending to be sad that hadn’t mentioned her name.

“Oh right. Of course I am looking forward to spending time with you.” said, not allowing to know how much he wanted to spend time with her.

“Aww thank you, .” said.

“Right, let’s get going then.” spoke out loud, whilst starting the engine to the car and driving down the main road.

**A Couple Of Minutes Later**
After a couple of minutes of driving down the main road, drove the car into the arena’s car park and parked the car into an available car parking space.

“Well here we are then.” said as he parked the car.

“I suppose we had better be going into the arena because the other lads will be wondering why I have taken so long to pick you up.” said as he turned the engine off.

“Can’t you just tell them that we got a little distracted?” joked, not realising how much her words had affected .

“I don’t think they would believe me.” replied, thinking back to the comment which had just made.

“Oh right.” replied.

**A Couple Of Minutes Later**
A couple of minutes later and both and were walking around the Manchester Evening News Arena trying to meet up with the other lads before the show was about to start.

“When the show is about to start, you will have to remember that you need to look up to the top of the stage because that is where . . .” began to tell about the show before he was interrupted by a beeping noise coming from ’s mobile phone.

* Beep Beep * * Beep Beep*

“I am really sorry about this, .” said, as she took her mobile phone out of her hand bag to see who was sending her a text message.

“That is alright. Is it from anyone important?” asked as he noticed the expression on ’s face change whilst she was reading the text message.

“It is just a text message from a friend letting me know how she is getting on at University.” replied, trying to think of someone who could be sending her text message.

“Oh right.” replied, not knowing whether was telling the truth or not.

“Anyway, what you were saying before? About me having to look at the top of the stage?” asked, trying to change the subject away from the text message.

So I say it in a breath

“When the show is about to start, you will have to remember that you need to look up to the top of the stage because that is where . . .” began to tell about the show before he was interrupted by a beeping noise coming from ’s mobile phone.

“I am really sorry about this, .” said, as she took her mobile phone out of her hand bag to see if it was the same person who had sent her a text message a couple of minutes ago.

“That is alright.” replied, not liking the idea that was more occupied with her mobile phone than seeing him perform live on stage.

“Would it be alright if I was to make a quick telephone call, and then I promise that I will turn my mobile phone off afterwards, so that I am all yours.” softly spoke, feeling embarrassed that her mobile phone kept on distracting the conversation she was having with .

“That is alright. I am just going to go and see if I can find the other lads whilst you make that telephone call.” replied as he turned around and walked off in another direction.

“I promise that I won’t be too long.” replied, hoping could still hear her.

**A Couple Of Minutes Later**
A couple of minutes later and whilst was making a telephone call, walked into the dressing room where the other lads were getting ready for the start of the show.

“Hello . Where is ? It is just that I thought you went and picked her up earlier on.” asked, as he saw entering the dressing room alone.

“I did pick her up earlier on but she kind of got a little distracted with her mobile phone though.” replied remembering the sound the mobile phone made when it beeped, indicating that a text message had been received.

“What do you mean?” asked, worried about his friend.

“When the both of us were walking down the corridors, I was trying to tell her about the start of the show and where we all come out, but her mobile phone kept on beeping though.” started to speak.

“In the end she asked if she could make a telephone call, so I told her that I would come and find the rest of you, so that she had some privacy etc.” finished speaking.

“Do you know who she was making the telephone call to?” asked, intrigued as to who might be telephoning at this particular time.

“I am afraid I don’t really know. I didn’t really think to ask because she seemed a little occupied with the text messages which she was receiving.” answered, wondering why he didn’t ask who she had to make a telephone call to.

“Maybe she is making a telephone call to her boyfriend, and that is why she couldn’t tell you about any of it.” joked, forgetting what had planned for that particular live show.

“A boyfriend? Do you honestly think she has one?” asked worried.

“Of course she hasn’t. was just making a joke, weren’t you?” said, trying to re-assure .

“Of course I was, mate. You don’t have anything to worry about, I can promise you that.” replied, worried that he might have frightened off of the idea of declaring his love for on stage.

I tried to read
I go to work
I’m laughing with my friends
But I can’t stop
To keep myself from thinking

“Do you think I should go and see how she is? I mean, she might need some help with . . .” asked the other lads, trying to think of an excuse to see .

“Off you go, mate.” replied, knowing how much cared for .

**A Couple Of Minutes Later**
A couple of minutes later and whilst was looking around the arena for , she was talking on the telephone to Jamie, an ex boyfriend, who kept on sending her text messages.

“Hello, Jamie.” spoke on the telephone.

“Hello, . I am really glad that you telephoned me because I have some really goods news which I did want to tell you about.” Jamie began to speak, happy that had contacted him.

“What is the news, Jamie?” asked, worried about what Jamie might have to tell her.

“Well, the company which I work for kind of owe me some extra hours, and after I had a little word with the boss earlier on, he has agreed that I can take the weekend off.” Jamie explained.

“Oh right. That is good news then but what does that have to do with me though?” replied, not knowing what this had to do with her.

“It means that I can take you away for the weekend to a beautiful castle, which I have been promising to do for quite a while now. Would you like . . .” Jamie began to speak before interrupted him.

“I am really sorry, Jamie, but I don’t think that would be ideal.” replied, not knowing whether Jamie realised that they weren’t a couple anymore.

“I don’t understand, . I thought you have always wanted to spend the weekend away in a beautiful castle amongst the countryside.” Jamie spoke, not believing the fact that didn’t want to spend time with him anymore.

“I don’t really know how to say this, Jamie, without hurting your feelings, but when the both of us were in a relationship a couple of months ago, I did have strong feelings for you.” started to speak.

“It is just that during the time of the relationship I didn’t like the idea that you were always out partying with your friends or working for your boss. It is just that I felt like I was being treated as someone who should clean, cook and wash for you.” continued to speak.

“It is just that all I have ever wanted was for someone to love me for me, and not because of my abilities to clean, cook and wash.” continued to speak.

“I am really sorry, Jamie, but I thought you kind of knew that the relationship between the both of us was over. I have kind of moved on and I think you should try and do the same.” finished speaking, proud of herself for letting Jamie know where he stood.

“I am really sorry to have troubled you, .” Jamie stuttered, not knowing what he should say next.

“Would you just answer me one quick question though, ? When we were in the relationship, did you ever love me?” Jamie asked not realising how much trouble his question was going to cause.

“Of course I did, Jamie. You should know that I loved you.” spoke, not realising that was standing behind her.

**A Couple Of Minutes Later**
A couple of minutes later and after listening to declare her love for another man, knew that he couldn’t go through with what he had planned for that particular show.

“Hello, .” spoke as finished making her telephone call.

“Hello, . I didn’t realise you were standing there.” spoke as she turned to face .

“I am really sorry but I am going to have to ask you to leave” spoke, regretting what he was about to do.

“You want me to leave?” asked.

“That’s what I just said.” spat, getting angry with himself for hurting ’s feelings.

“I don’t understand what is happening, . I thought I had come to watch you perform a live show with the others.” asked, confused with what was happening.

“To watch me or to play around with your fancy man?” spat, getting angry with himself for hurting ’s feelings.

“My fancy man? I don’t understand what you are trying to imply.” asked, confused with what was happening.

“I heard you on the telephone a couple of minutes ago, and I must say that you kept the fact that you have a boyfriend hidden very well. I mean, I had no idea.” spat, getting angry with himself for hurting ’s feelings.

“I don’t have a boyfriend. It is just that I was talking to someone called . . .” began to speak before she was interrupted.

“I don’t care what his pathetic name is. All I want you to do is to leave the arena and never see me again, if that is not too much trouble.” spat, getting angry with himself for hurting ’s feelings.

“If that is what you want.” asked, admitting defeat.

“It is.” said loudly, as he saw turning around and walking away from him.

**A Couple Of Minutes Later**
A couple of minutes later and after watching walk away from him and towards the exit of the arena, slumped back against a cold, hard wall knowing that he had hurt the one person who he cared for the most.

“Hello . Did you find out where went?” asked, as he walked towards .

“Yeah I did.” mumbled.

“Oh right, so where is she then because I can’t see her here with you?” asked.

“I asked her to go home.” mumbled.

“Why would you want her to go home? It is just that I thought you were going to declare your love for her on stage tonight?” asked.

“I asked her to go home after I heard her talking on the telephone to her boyfriend, about how they were going to spend the weekend away in a castle. I guess I am just a fool for thinking that I could be anything more than friends.” mumbled.

“So I kind of take it that you told her how you felt about her, and that is when she told you about her boyfriend?” asked, feeling sympathetic for his friend.

“I didn’t need to tell her how I felt about her because from what she was saying on the telephone it was easy to tell that she was already in love with someone else.” mumbled.

“So what did she actually say in this conversation then?” asked, hoping that hadn’t heard only half of the conversation and had allowed his mind to drift away.

“I heard her tell the other person that she used to care . . .” mumbled before he realised what he had just said.

“What is it, mate? What has happened?” asked, clearly worried about his friend.

“I heard her tell the other person that she used to care for them, where as I thought she had said that she did care for them.” said, realising that he had misunderstood ’s conversation.

“Oooh right, and because of that you asked her to leave the arena?” spoke.

“Yeah I did but I am hoping that she won’t have listened to a word I said, and that she will still turn up to the show tonight.” spoke, forming a plan in the back of his mind.

“What do you have planned? Maybe I could possibly help you?” said, wanting to help put things right between and .

“You will find out soon enough.” said, as he turned around and walked away.

**A Couple Of Hours Later**
A couple of hours later and after performing several songs with the other lads on stage to the crowd, the time came for to put his plan into action.

“Hello Everyone.” spoke as he greeted the crowd.

“I know that myself and the other lads usually pick a couple of people from the crowd to bring up onto the stage to dedicate this song to, but tonight I would like to change that.” spoke, gaining weird reactions from the other members of the group.

“It is just that earlier on tonight, I was joined by a very beautiful, caring and trustworthy friend of mine who I am afraid to say was treated badly by myself.” continued.

“I didn’t realise at the time that I had put two and two together and had come up with an answer of five, so I would like to take the opportunity this evening to make amends with this person.” continued, whilst the audience was filled with silence.

“I am not too sure whether this person listened to my foolish advice and went back home, or whether this person decided to follow her heart and stay for the show tonight.” continued.

“If this person decided to follow her heart and stay for the show tonight, then I would like her to know that I am going to do what my heart is telling me to do, and that is to invite her up onto the stage right now, so that I can apologise to her.” continued, hoping that he wasn’t going to be stood up.

Looking around the arena, fear and worry started to form in the bottom of ’s stomach as he realised that it looked like had decided to go home after all.

As decided to turn his back to the audience so that he could walk over to the other lads to let them know that his plan had failed, a sudden gasping noice coming from the audience made him turn around.

“I wasn’t too sure whether you were talking about me or not.” softly spoke as she made her way across the front of the arena and onto the stage.

“I am really sorry for everything that I have said to you today, , because I never meant to hurt or upset you in any way. It is just that I kind of felt embarrassed that I had allowed myself to fall in love with you, whilst you were already in a relationship.” explained, laying his heart on the line.

“If you had of asked me, , then I would have explained that I used to be in a relationship with Jamie, but that ended a couple of months ago though because I had fallen in love you.” explained, hoping that this wasn’t all some sort of joke.

“I know that I have been a fool and I know that you have every right to say no, but would you do me the honour of becoming my girlfriend?” asked, fearing ’s answer.

“Of course I will, you daft fool.” replied, as she allowed herself to be hugged by .

“Thank you so much. I can promise you that you haven’t made the wrong decision, and by that I have a box of chocolates waiting backstage with your name on it.” joked.

“A box of chocolates are always a good way to make it up to me.” joked, causing to laugh along.
