[Challenge January/February 2009:

Lifer: Kian
Place: bathtub
Stuff: whistle
Quote: "Hmm, yeah, that's the way I like it"
Location: Greece]

Westlife had decided to go to Greece; just to get away from the cold. Kian didn’t have a girlfriend and was a bit annoyed that Nicky and Shane had brought and , and Mark, . In the limo on the way to the hotel, everybody was having a great time, except Kian. He was just staring out the window, when Shane slapped his shoulder. “Lighten up, man. We’re on vacation.” The limo stopped and Kian jumped out. He waited for the car with their luggage. Shane walked up to him. “All right, what’s wrong?”
“Nothing. It’s just…”
“Just what, Kian?”
Kian turned to face Shane. “It’s just; I think that there are three people here that shouldn’t be here.”
“What? Who?”
, and .”
“What are you talking about, man? Is it because you don’t have a girl?”
“Boy, you know me all too well, Filan.”
Shane smirked. “That’s right. Look, I’m sure there’s a nice girl here. How ‘bout her?” he asked and pointed towards a girl who had just stepped out of a cab.
Kian gazed at the girl. Her hair reflected the sun. She was wearing a denim mini skirt, a white tank top, black flip-flops and huge diva-like sunglasses. Her legs looked amazing and she had the most gorgeous smile Kian had ever seen. “Hmm, yeah, that’s the way I like it.”

In the evening they were all dining together. Kian felt better because of a potential hook-up. He couldn’t stop thinking about her. It was as if he knew her, as if he had met her before, but he couldn’t place her. Suddenly she walked into the room and Kian swallowed hard. “Oh god.”
“What’s up, mate?” Shane asked. The others waited patiently for his answer.
“Shane, do you remember the girl from this afternoon?” Shane nodded. “Well” Kian said, “I just realized that we know her.”
“What do ya mean? We?” Nicky suddenly asked.
“Not you, Nico, but Shane, Mark and I. Oh, and .” The three of them turned their heads and glanced at the girl, before looking at Kian again. “See, it’s .”
“God, you’re right” Mark said and remembered her. “We used to go to school with her.”
“I haven’t thought of her in ages” said. “Didn’t she use to be very big?”
Kian nodded. “But look at her now. She looks…” He paused for a moment. “Stunning.”
“Yeah” Shane said, “but you’re never gonna hook up with her.”
Kian was almost shocked. “Why not?”
Mark laughed. “Jeez, Kian, don’t you remember how mean we were to her? We picked on her for years. She hated us.”
Kian remembered and he knew that he had to apologize. He noticed her leave. “Guys, excuse me.” He got up and ran out of the room. He looked towards the elevators; no one there. Then he saw her; she was walking up the stairs. He followed her to the second floor. “ ?” he asked.
“Yes?” she said while spinning around. That’s when she noticed him walking towards her. “You stay the hell away from me.” He couldn’t answer before she had entered her room and slammed the door. She sat down on the floor, resting her head on her knees; tears started to flow. There was a knock on the door. She knew it had to be him. Who else could it be? “Go away, Egan.”
, look, I know you hate me, but please, I wanna apologize. I’m not like that anymore. I’ve changed. As have Mark, Shane and .”
She swung the door open. “Changed? People like you don’t change. It’s not possible. Do you have any idea what you put me through, you bloody bastard?”
“No, tell me about it.” walked to her window, but didn’t close the door. Kian did that when he entered. “, please. Whatever we put you through, I’m sor…”
“Don’t try and say that you’re sorry, Egan. I’ll throw you out of the window if you do.”
“I’m trying to apologize here. Why won’t you just accept that?”
“Because there’s nothing you can say or do that will make everything okay. Just get out.”
“But …”
She spun around and stared angrily at him. “JUST GET THE FUCK OUT OF HERE!!!”

Later Kian was relaxing in the bathtub. He hadn’t felt like joining the others in the bar; this whole thing with bothered him. He rested his head on the tubs edge, listening to the sounds of a whistle coming from outside. He figured someone was standing on their balcony playing. He was so relaxed that when he heard a knock on his door, he cursed loudly to himself. With a towel wrapped around his waist, he opened the door. “.” He could see that she had been crying.
“You said that I should tell you. You know, what you put me through.” He stepped aside and let her enter. “So I’ll tell you.” She said down on a couch. Kian placed himself opposite her. He didn’t say anything because he didn’t want her to suddenly leave. She took a deep breath. “When you guys left Sligo to become mega stars, I wanted to lose weight so that one day I could sleep with one of you and then tell the whole world about it, but I couldn’t lose the weight just by eating healthy and working out; somehow it didn’t work.” She took another deep breath. “So I stopped eating and one day I was diagnosed with anorexia. I was so happy because I had lost so much weight by not eating, so I never considered that it was an eating disorder. When the doctors told me about it, I was devastated. I never meant for it to be that bad.” She got up and walked around. “Because it devastated me I started cutting myself, but never deep. I didn’t wanna die. I know now that it was a cry for help.” She paused for a moment. “And help I got. My parents sent me to an institution. When they thought that I had gained enough weight again, and that I was mentally stable, they sent me home again. That was seven months later.” She sat back down. “All of this was because of you, Kian. I thought I could get my revenge if I slept with you, but instead I was in hell.”
“Why me?” he asked.
“What do you mean?”
He was confused. “Well, you just talked to me like I was the one you wanted to sleep with. What about the others? Well, apart from .”
giggled. “You never figured it out, did you? You really don’t know why I let you pick on me all the time? Why I didn’t just run away?” She looked at Kian, who was beginning to understand. “I was in…”
“Love with me” he interrupted. nodded. “But that doesn’t explain why you didn’t just run away.”
She sighed. “God, you really are blond.” She smiled and placed herself next to him. She looked into his blue eyes. “I didn’t run away because I could only talk to you, when you were picking on me.”
Kian swallowed hard. “How are you today?”
“I’m good. When I came back from the institution, I stopped caring about you, Mark, Shane and . Plus, it is like 8, maybe 9, years ago now. It’s just when I saw you earlier, it all came back to me and that’s why I freaked. I mean, maybe you really have changed. All of you.”
“We have, I swear. The others are downstairs, if you wanna…”
“Okay, I’ll go. I also have to face them again.” She kissed him on his cheek and got up. “Are you coming?” When he got up, looked at him. “Maybe you should put some clothes on.”

Walking towards the bar Kian really wanted to grab ’s hand and hold it tight, but he knew that if he wanted to be with her, he had to move slow. He remembered her warm lips on his cheek and smiled. saw it and took his hand. He look down on their entwined hands and then into her big eyes. She smiled at him. Their perfect moment was interrupted when they bumped into Nicky. “Hi Nicky” Kian said.
“Oh, hi, Egan. I thought that you…” He looked at . “Wow!!! Hi, I’m Nicky.”
shook his hand. “I’m .”
“That’s a pretty name. Come on, guys. Mark is just about to do ten vodka shots.”

“Hi guys” Kian said, when he sat down.
“Hi Kian” Shane said. Then he looked at . “Can I say hi to you or do you hate me?”
’s face broke into a smile. “You can say hi.” Then Shane got up and hugged her. He apologized which made realize that Kian hadn’t. Mark and did the same as Shane. Kian smiled. and were introduced by Nicky.
Mark found a chair for . “Please, sit down.”

*A Week Later*
shrieked. “Kian, put me down.” She laughed hard. Kian carried her around over his shoulder. “Put me down.” That’s when she saw the pool. “No, no, no, no, no. Kian, please, I’m fully dressed.” She looked at the others. “Somebody help me.”
Kian was now standing at the edge of the pool. Nicky ran to them and pushed both of them in. The others burst out laughing. “Byrne, I’ll kill ya” Kian yelled. He turned around to look at . She was just smiling widely. “Why are you smiling?”
“Because you hadn’t planned to land in the pool, and look at you now.” She laughed. “I’m gonna go and change.” She got out of the pool and headed towards the entrance.
“Hey, wait up.” Kian ran after her. “I should change too.”

“I’ll see ya soon” said and kissed him passionately. She spun around and walked towards her room. She unlocked the door and went inside. “Come on, knock already” she thought. Then there was a knock on the door. She smiled and opened.
“You can’t just kiss me like that and then leave” he said. His eyes were darker than usually.
“I know.” She stepped aside. “Come on in.”
She had hardly closed the door before Kian grabbed her by her waist and pulled her towards the bed. Their lips met each other and it was passionately. She licked his upper lip. He understood and let her warm tongue meet his. Landing on the bed was sitting on top of Kian. She began unbuttoning his shirt. “Wow” she thought at the sight of his muscular chest. She leaned forward and kissed him again. Kian was going crazy. He rolled her over and removed her top. “No bra. Nice” he smirked. For the rest of their sexual act they didn’t say a word and they took their time. There was no rush. None of them were in a hurry.
In the evening woke up in Kian’s arms. He wasn’t sleeping. “What are you thinking about?” she asked.
“Are you still gonna throw me through the window, if I apologize now?”
“No.”
Kian lay down next to her and looked deep into her eyes. “I’m sorry for everything I’ve put you through.”
“I forgive you, Kian.” She kissed him and cuddled up in his arms again. She fell asleep again.
Kian fell asleep knowing that this was gonna last forever and that there would be no more sorrow in their lives.
