Neverland’s Policy

» Site-wise

-As you probably already know, Neverland is a site for Westlife fan fictions, interactive ones. The script (making the story interactive) is made by the Neverland team, which basically consists in its two webmistress, Binha and Mirelle. Since the site started, there had been some other people (friends) helping out in the task, which had always been highly appreciated.

-Publishing of fictions will happen when there are new stories and/or new chapters available and ready to go on line. Short Stories are those with less than ten pages; Full Stories are those with eleven to twenty pages. Longer stories, with the minimum of twenty-one pages, will be divided in chapters, and once complete, will be moved from Unfinished section to Chapter section. [check site area, then the stories, for the pattern we use to calculate the story’s length].

-Long stories, divided in chapters, will be updated once a week with the amount of chapters we see fit. Usually, two or three chapters at time, but this number may vary due to the story length and/or chapter length.

-Other sections, such as Serial, Songfics, Original Lifer and Challenge, are not separated by story length, but for its type. Serial Stories are those fictions which have a sequel (or more than one sequel); they can be long and divided in chapters, or they can be short, songfics, etc. Songfics are those stories based on song lyrics; the fiction and the lyrics share the same space on the paper. Original Lifer Stories are the fictions not entirely scripted (interactive); the Lifers won’t be scripted, they’ll be themselves and only the girls into the story will be scripted, meaning you won’t get to choose a favourite Lifer, but your name will be in the story nevertheless. And last, but not least, Challenge, which is, well, a challenge for people to write about; every month there’s a different theme for the challenge, but there’s no headline to hand the fictions [for more information, check challenge area for about and rules].

-The sections for Original stories are the same as those for Interactive fictions. There're Chapter section, Serial section, etc. Challenge is an apart section, not counting for Interactive neither Original.

-Fic List. It’s a sort of map, where all the stories are listed in their specific pages. There is no need to ask around where some fiction is found, Fic List is there for that. Also, you can see the genre of the fics, so when you feel like reading a comedy, for example, just take a look there and try to find a story which suits your taste.

-Poll. Every now and then we may be enquiring our visitors about different matters; being it site matter, or fiction matter, etc.

-Suggestion Box. Mainly, the Suggestion Box is for people to share ideas with other writers about what/how they want a story, but maybe can’t write themselves. The Box is public, meaning anyone can check what is written in there, so we warn to do not share an idea if you do not want others to know; also, we have no control if someone else writes a story based on your idea and claims it as theirs. We do not support that, but unfortunately it’s something we can’t control. The suggestion box can be used to suggest things regarding the site too.

-Guestbook. Place to write something about the site, what you think of it.

-Forum. Message board, where among other things, can have original and incomplete stories.

-In Neverland, every opinion and point of view is welcomed, as long as it is done respectfully. Disrespect will not be tolerated, and if such happens, the person shall be banned from the forum, tag-board, or even the site.

» Additional site services.

-The ‘AA’ Stamp. Or the Anna Approval Stamp, is a sort of column, where Anna (Neverland friend and member in off) shall choose the stories to get the stamp, and tell why she chose this one; she will be recommending the stories she may find interesting. We, Mirelle and Binha, have absolutely nothing to do with the choices, we don't even know which story will be recommended until she posts on the site, since she knows how to do that herself. The reason we have Anna to write this column is for she’s a good writer herself and she can point the high points, and also the low ones in the stories; the ‘AA’ is more of a fun thing than anything else, we just wanted to have something different and yet interesting on the site; by no means the point is ass-licking, only praise where praise is due, and with a reason for that.

-Recommend. An open space for anyone to give their own Stamp to the stories they like, and think deserves it. Only thing we ask when recommending a fiction, is respect; respect with the site, its visitors and the writers.

-On the Spotlight. Every now and then there will be a person (or persons) to be On The Spotlight here in Neverland. These people shall be connected to the site in some way, being it as a writer (more likely), as a Contest winner, etc. Question will be sent to the person in question, by the visitors, and after a month time we will forward the questions so the Icon can answer and therefore have the answers posted in Neverland.

» Fictions and Writers

-All the stories being, obviously, fictional, with the ideas of plots, scenes, dialogues, etc, coming out of the writer’s mind; the characters, however, are based on real people, on the Westlife lads, their manager Louis Walsh, etc. Said that, it does not mean these people mentioned are exactly as described in the stories, for the simple fact most (not to say all) the writers here do not really know Westlife, other than what learnt from the media, or brief fan-meetings. Despite being based on real persons, the characters are not real.

-Submiting. We do not choose the stories to be hosted on Neverland, we publish the stories as they are sent. It is not for us to judge if a certain story is good enough to be on the site, it is up to its readers; also, such a thing would be very disrespectful in our point of view. Every single writer in Neverland is equal to all others, with the same rights and doings.
The main thing is to submit a Westlife fan fiction, or a story which can be scripted (made interactive). And you must check the submitting page for required information about your story to be on Neverland.

-Writing a fan fiction is not such an easy task, it takes time, patience, good ideas, etc. Therefore, plagiarism is something that will not be accepted. The team might not be aware of such unpleasant facts happening in Neverland, but once it comes to knowledge, providences shall be taken.
The visitors can, and shall, notify the webmistress about a possible occurrence of plagiarism. Only remembering, your allegation must have a proof supporting it. Neverland will, by no means, be intentionally unfair with its visitors and writers; if one sends a fan fiction claiming it’s theirs, as long as it can not be proven other wise, it will be held as the truth.
The Neverland Team shall not be blamed for others’ actions.

-Authors' page. This section has basically two functions for the visitor: get to know something additional about Neverland's writers (when did they start writing, something about their stories, where does the inspiration come from...) and also to find in each author's profile the stories they have hosted in Neverland. So, for example, if you just remember who wrote the fic but not its name, you just have to go there and search for it, saving a lot of time you'd waste searching through the sections' pages.

-FOTM. Fiction of the Month. Every month four fictions from different authors are chosen by us, Mirelle and Binha, and Neverland visitors get to vote to which one is their favourite, and the monthly winner is displayed on the layout. We don't ever tend to choose over our favorite fictions, but we do our best to try and give every author a chance to have their stories up for voting. In addition, to help people remember a bit of the stories, parts of them are shown in the layout, in the 'quickview' area, where also there are the links who direct to the story itself.

-Contest. Every few months we shall have a new Contest, which theme will be chosen by the last Season’s winner. The winner is chosen by vote, the one story with more votes, wins, and its writer will then choose a theme for the upcoming season. Webmistress can not participate, for it will not be fair on the voting; but every one else can take part, only thing is to follow the theme and the contest rules [which are found on contest area].
